Keeping Bryce and the Genealogy Room ~

I've got Bryce this morning. Only the second time I've got to keep him. So, of course, I took his picture -

The big boy was 9 weeks old Monday. He has a scowl going on and I tease him that if he doesn't stop it he will be wrinkled by 3! Bryce insisted on eating upon arrival and then promptly filled his diaper. Tried to explain that he is to save that for his mommy. Then we had to eat more. As of right now - he's sitting beside me contemplating a nap.

Promised pictures of the new genealogy room. The chairs arrived a week ago...this post a a bit tardy.

View from the door facing the south east corner.
Managed to keep the wall color the same - which was important to me. I have a stenciled saying above the door and I really didn't want to remove it.

The south west corner
The wire picture hanger is on the west wall. It has some of my group family pictures that I made for the Christmas tree of 2012. If you look closely - the photo albums are on the bottom shelf of the filing cabinet. My office chair doesn't have a home - it's taking a rest here.

Family Wall
Hard to believe this wall is only our immediate family. Eight siblings between Rob and I. Can you imagine if I added all the aunts and uncles?

North Wall
Sorry for the reflections! These photos are of Newcomerstown throughout the ages. The bottom right corner is from the Flood of 1913. Other pictures range from 1907 - 1974. It took a couple of weeks to find them and then enlarge them to 5x7. Was able to get frames from Wal-Mart for $1 each. The great thing about this arrangement - if I find more photos - I can add to it for next to nothing. And using velcro makes it so easy to change my mind!

My grandparents had a dairy bar from the '50's until the late 70's when my uncle bought it out. The 2nd row far right picture is of the old Mathews' Dairy before it moved across the Tuscarawas River.

My Hometown
These are some pictures that were of an unusual size. Found the clips in Roscoe Village and thought they added a nice touch to the room.

But, the sad part - I haven't gotten to use it with my sister. She's been incredibly busy and we haven't gotten together. It is a nice, quiet, and warm room to relax in!

Happy Hump Day - stay inside and stay warm. Soon, the super cold weather will break. I hope anyway - the river is clogged with ice! eek.

Banging My Head on the Wall!

New genealogy room - check
New chairs - on Friday - check
Research coming along - urch
Frustration setting in with lack of sources sited - wheels coming off
Decision made to start all over - head banging on wall!

Yep, new room - new chairs - new research!
I now have a new freebie program -
that matches my sister's program.

Where I had mixed research (read spotty at best)
there is now only known and sourced information.

And where I had at least 2000 people in my family
and another 1000+ in Rob's -
there is now approx 60 in our total family.

Must go stitch and get my mind off this new madness.
Must go stitch...
Must go stitch...

GOING TO GO STITCH...

The Never Ending Project is Nearing the End

I've been stitching along now on the SamSarah Perpetual Calendar for what seems like a long time. As a matter of fact - here is my first *post* when I received my patterns. Please notice the date - March 11, 2013! I have been stitching these for almost 10 months. Seems I took from mid-April to mid-May off to work on my Hares' projects.

Ten months and just the other day I started on December. There are only 3 more tags to go. Hard to believe I've committed a year of my life to this project and I'm going to be sad to see it go.

I can't show you the November tags yet. I've got them all done down to one color and then I started another tag. Going on vacation soon and I need some stupid stitching (read no pattern to look at - just fill in the blank) to do.

After all this time stitching the tags - you would think I would have figured out a place to put the finished project. Well, I haven't. The tag holder is bigger than I thought and I'm just not sure where to put it. So, now I stew over that.

On another note - my genealogy room is near completion! Woo-hoo! My chairs should be here by the end of the week. But, the first date for them to arrive was before Christmas. Come on Flex-Steel get it together! I have the cabinets and table set up and ready to go. All the photos are in place on the walls. I just need these 2 wing back chairs. I won't let my sister in the room. This is our room at my house to play. I want her to see it finished. Alivia saw the room yesterday - she loved the pictures of herself, her brothers, and Mom and Dad.

Hoping the blue/green on the walls somehow match the rust of the chairs. Otherwise, all the pictures have been for nothing and I'll have to paint. Trying to convince myself that all colors go together. I just need to find the one item that shares both colors in it. Yeah - right.

Nothing too exciting to note - no new pregnancies, no weddings on the horizon (although Rob's youngest brother got engaged yesterday), and just one person moving... So far 2014 is doing much better than 2013. Remember Jan 1st of last year? Logan had wrecked his truck and Alivia was in the hospital.

Sorry for no pictures today - I promise bunches soon!
