Last Days of Fall

I love fall. But, it seems to be coming to an end already. Went after groceries this morning and the leaves are past prime. :( This year is quickly coming to a close. Which got me to thinking...what are my goals for 2013? Okay, okay...I'll wait a bit more before going into that.

I built a house this week - completely ignored the law of gravity in doing so. Started at the top and there is no foundation. Maybe in a few more weeks.

Thinking this next week will find me filling in around the sides. That's a lot of solid stitching in that there house! And I've found that I started my house one stitch too low. AND I messed up the bottom right corner by one stitch. Guess I'll be tweaking it as I get closer to the bottom.

This morning I was trying to hurry some stitching along on Serenade and messed it up twice! Rip-rip-rip. But, I did get the twig finished.

Boy, I took this picture under my daylight lamp and it is washed out. Not sure where I'm heading on this for the week.

I know I have everything ready for next Thursday. I did look at the fat guys/belles this week. There is one snowman per group that has no eyes! Gonna have to fix that. I don't want a blind snowman.

Yesterday, I found family all over the place. Gotta say, I love technology. We are not as bored as those who were around back in the 1800's and early 1900's. Those people needed a hobby. Night time came early and they were busy back then. Who in the world needed to have 13 children??? That's being pregnant for nearly 10 years!

Here's a photo of some of the family -

What's funny - only one little boy is looking at the camera. And not a smile to be found. This picture is going to find its way onto my Christmas tree. Loving the old photos.

Hope this week finds you stitching your little heart out!

Great house building Denise!! I have one roof on.. I was thinking the same thing about all that black fill in last night. I love looking at any old photos. I have noticed that no one smiles! lol I look at our family pictures now and we are smiling away!! Were people more serious back then? Makes you wonder doesn't it? Love your stitching!!!

ooOoo! Genealogy is such fun. I have spent so many hours doing that and there is always more to discover isn't there.

I was just thinking about fall being almost over today too - so many trees have lost their leaves around here.

Your piece is looking good and that is too bad that you had to frog out twice!!

Isn't technology great for finding things out about the family. I've been having a field day with mine, but what is up with all those kids. I had one relative that had 17 kids. A bit much, don't you think. I feel awful for the poor woman.

I am re-doing my tree. HAd to have the computer worked on and we took it back to factory basics . . so I lost all of the family tree info I had on ehre . . which is fine. Now I know what I want to do and it is actually better starting from scratch that it is hunting/searching/climbing through the tree to fix people where I made a mistake, or wanted something cleaned up.

This time, I am actually finding people I didn't find last time . . so that makes me hgappy.

By the way . . the husband came up with a new tenderloin recipe . . I will post it and pictures in a couple of days . . it was S-O-O-O-O good that I thought you would like it.

Tweaking - one of the things I often times find the key to a success.

I just can't imagine the birthing process back in the day -- 13 times, one strong woman.

Your house is looking good - is it a Halloween piece? I can tell you, three kids is enough for me!

Unfortunately, many families had that many kids, and many didn't make it to adulthood. You can even find instances where a boy named "John" (or whatever) died as an infant. If the next baby was a boy, he was also named John. Tough times. Careful, though. I got so deep into genealogy one year I hardly stitched! Only so many hours....

Great stitching progress! I could not stitch all that outlining first. I am not that disciplined.
Your house is looking great.
I am thinking about 2013 too and stitching goals.
Great picture find!

Great progress on your SAL piece. I love it. Your new start is looking good. What an awesome old family photo. What a great idea, to hang it on your tree.

Your house is probably framed in by now! :) Yup--I have pictures of ancestors and they just are NOT smiling! A big family gathering and you aren't smiling? Not these days!I went to two reunions in the past twenty years and I have a bunch of comedians for relatives! We laugh so much!! Thanks for sharing! Hugs!

Love your stitches!
As for the smiling ~ two things come to mind, having to sit there, very still for a long time and dental hygiene......😁

Well at least you got fall. It is about 85 here and no sign of fall.
Love the old picture.
