One Nation by ByGone Stitches 32ct Belfast Country Mocha DMC conversion |
I'm having a really hard time putting it down and working on my other 3 projects. What are my other three projects? HIH Monthly Mania Sept-Oct-Nov which is 1/3 to half done, a Santa by Sue Hillis that is just getting started, and Snow White by LHN.
Has anyone used DMC's linen floss? I started using it on Snow White and became so disgusted by how the stitches were laying, the fraying of the floss, and how easily it broke that I stopped and ripped it ALL out and started again with normal DMC. Is this normal or am I missing something?
Since this is just a quick pass through bloggerville - I'll see you all later!

Linen floss is unevenly thick and irregular - that's part of it's "charm". It's not for all projects, but it is pretty cool when you manage to fit it to the right project.
What a cool project! I have not used the linen floss from DMC, so I can't help you there.
hey there, I love that One Nation, and you are right it is coming along nicely. Yes on the Linen thread and the only saving grace to that is the little blue cube called Thread Heaven, simply run it through and the thread will not fray as it was. I find this works well on many different types of thread.
Be always in stitches, my friend
I had the same problems with the linen floss! Didn't like it at all! It even broke when I barely pulled my stitches through the fabric! I won't use it again, although someone did tell me that "That's the nature of the beast".
I haven't seen a lot of people love the linen floss. Maybe it needs thread heaven? I hadn't seen that pattern before--it's cool.
Will be an awesome project, Denise!! I will enjoy seeing your updates on it!
One Nation is looking fantastic so far. Looking forward to seeing pics of your other 23 projects.
hey you, I just received a box from someone special,,,you silly girl...Thank you so very much
Be always in stitches.
I love the picture, it will be absolutely amazing when you are done.Have fun stitching it. :)
Wow, that is going to be quite the project....as for DMC Linen floss, no I have not tried it..thought about it though. Maybe I still will then I can let you know how I did with it.
That looks intresting, I will have to look the pattern up on the net. I hate it when you use threads and they break, I just tend to stick with normal DMC threads, safe.
Lovely start. I haven't used the linen floss, but have just bought some for my giveaway , and wasn't too impressed with the feel of it to be honest.
What a great project. It's really going to be beautiful.
Very interesting project, this is going to be beautiful!
Oh One Nation is coming along great. Love the fabric choice!
Who says you have to pick up the other three when you're loving this one so much? Remember why we stitch - for the enjoyment!
I wasn't familiar with this design so I googled it, Denise--oh, it is going to be a beauty! Congratulations on a wonderful start--I'm so glad you're enjoying it :)
The design and fabric do indeed look lovely. I have never tried DMC linen floss but have used their flower threads before which give a lovely, soft effect.
kind regards,
Shirley
Nice start :o)
I've heard nothing but bad things about the DMC linen floss. Even though I have them all, I still haven't used them. LOL!
