Since you asked...

I decided not to show my how poorly my impulse control is. And I don't want to come off as being a snot about getting stash. And I PROMISED myself not to buy more... (sigh) but... since you asked ~

This is for my SAL with Crystal. Courtney will be joining us and is using the orange (Picture This Plus - Relic) fabric.Unfortunately, Courtney doesn't have her pattern or floss yet. And I am waiting on my fabric. The fabric shown is actually for (stop reading Courtney) her tombie Christmas present. My LNS only had enough for the tombie and is re-ordering for me :(

When I went shopping I think I was channeling Deb. She has a MAJOR love affair with crows. EVERY patten I got -- crows! The floss is for the tombie - doing it in Sullivan's. And more remnants. Just too good to pass up. Sorry, Pumpkin, I should have emailed you before I left. :(This was an unplanned trip.

Now, here's a question that I hope won't cause ruffled feathers. See the 'Waiting for the Harvest' pattern. If I take my pattern maker and redesign it with our initials, center it different, and colorize it all for my OWN use. Am I infringing on their copyright? I have no thoughts of trying to say the design is mine or sell it or make a copy for any other use than to personalize my stitched item. Is this a problem?

I have been showing pictures of Alivia and thought I should show big brother off too. So, here's Garin relaxing in the 'spider-web' chair (read hammock).

My father has a mini-me in this boy. I think my sister and BIL say they are the parents and they just cloned Dad. He looks exactly like Dad did at this age!

Today is laundry/stitching day. So, it is either get moving or take a nap!

Oh, another question - Does anybody else have a Ginkgo tree near them? And if so, have you ever seen a 'shedding day'? Our Ginkgo is golden and the leaves are all wimpy. I think tomorrow it will shed. Our tree looses ALL of its leaves in one day! Maybe I can capture it mid-shed and show everyone.

Smiles - Denise

Very nice stash, I don't think you will have a problem with changing the design for your personal use, it's something that must be done often. Garin looks cheeky, bet you have loads of fun with him. Hope you did more stitching than laundry.

I don't think the BBD would have any problem with you altering their design, as long as you give credit where it is due. A few months ago, Alma showed one of Barb’s works in progress on her blog that used a Workbasket freebie as a jumping off point and then Barb was adding elements and a border around it. Barb was stitching it to commemorate a trip they took together.

When you do your interpretation, I think you’d be safe to say it was “inspired by” BBD’s Waiting for the Harvest.

(Hope my links work.)

As long as you credit BBD for the original design, I don't see how there could be a problem. I change things all the time in charts!

I have to agree that so long as you credit BBD with the original then all would be well. I think most designers expect a little change (i.e. initial's, colors, etc) in their originals anyway. Just be sure to give credit where credit is due!

Good luck and happy stitching your new goodies!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhh.....you were bad, bad, bad!!!! And not letting me know...tsk, tsk, tsk! Now I have to drool all over my keyboard at your nice fabric ;o)

Btw, what is tombie? Did I miss something?

I don't think there is anything wrong with changing the design. Stitchers do it all the time!

Nice new stash!! As others have said, as long as you specify that it's a modification of somebody else's design (thus giving them credit) and it's for your own use, I think you are okay.

Garin is a cutie!

If there is a chart out there that you love and would do it if it were more you then I say the designers would be thrilled to sell a design and if you make it your own by way of a change of name/colour/adding more/taking away I am sure it would still be understood where the initial piece came from. Go for it girl and make it good for you. That is where the top designers get their inspiration from, everyone else. (Well maybe not TWD and unfortunately that has come to an end)
Be always in stitches.

We have a huge ginkgo tree and it is bright yellow right now. Most of the leaves are still on the tree but I'm going to watch for the shedding day. Does yours ever bear fruit? They sure make a stinky mess.
